Hei! Nimeni on Nataliia, olen ukrainalainen. Olen asunut Sauvossa noin kymmenen kuukautta. Olet ehkä aikaisemmin lukenut Kunnallislehdestä artikkelin, jossa minua on haastateltu. Nyt kirjoitan kolumnin ensimmäistä kertaa, mikä vähän jännittää.
Tulen kirjoittamaan tähän lehteen jotain jatkossakin. Haluan kirjoittaa meidän ukrainalaisten elämästä Suomessa – ja niistä ystävällisistä ihmisistä, joita kohtaamme. Ja haluan kirjoittaa myös omista tunnelmistani ja tunteistani.
Paikalliset ihmiset ovat Suomessa todella ystävällisiä, keskustelevia ja avuliaita. Sanon aina, että vaikka et odottaisi enää yhtään enempää, niin silti joku tekee enemmän. Ja se hämmästyttää minua joka kerta.
Tänään tahdon kertoa tarinan siitä, kuinka erään miehen suuri unelma toteutui ystävällisen avuliaisuuden johdosta.
Oli kesäpäivä. Olin lepäilemässä maataloustöiden jälkeen, kun naapurini ja ystäväni Artem saapui huoneeseen. Hänen silmänsä loistivat, ja mieli oli korkealla. Hän kertoi, että hänen suosikkimuusikkonsa Australiasta oli tulossa esiintymään Helsinkiin.
Artem kertoi, että hän oli menossa kyseiseen konserttiin tyttöystävänsä kanssa. Hän kysyi että haluaisimmeko minä ja ystäväni Anastasia tulla mukaan. Vastasimme myöntävästi ja ryhdyimme suunnittelemaan matkaa.
Pankin verkkoyhteydessä oli kuitenkin ongelma, emmekä voineet ostaa lippuja etukäteen. Vaihtoehdoksi jäi ostaa liput klubin ovelta ennen konserttia.
Konserttipäivänä me neljä – Artem, hänen tyttöystävänsä Ksenia, Anastasia ja minä – suuntasimme heti Helsinkiin päästyämme klubille ostamaan lippuja. Artem oli tosi onnellinen. Pian hänen suuri haaveensa toteutuisi.
Klubin eteisessä ovimies ilmoitti kuitenkin, että kaikki konserttiliput oli myyty loppuun jo ennakkoon. Ainoatakaan ei ollut jäljellä.
Olimme järkyttyneitä. Artem melkein itki. Hänen unelmansa oli niin lähellä…
Konsertin alkuun oli neljä tuntia. Päätimme palata klubin liepeille illalla ennen konserttia, jos vaikka joku olisi peruuttanut tulonsa tai muuten valmis myymään lippunsa.
Illalla lähestyimme jälleen ovimiestä. Ei edelleenkään lippuja. Kerroimme, että olemme valmiit maksamaan lipuista vaikka korotettua hintaa ja että olemme Ukrainasta ja että ystävämme on haaveillut kuusi vuotta pääsystä kyseisen artistin konserttiin. Ovimies-järjestyksenvalvoja pyysi, että näyttäisimme passimme. Sitten hän sanoi: ”Ukrainalaisille sisäänpääsy on ilmainen!”
Hypimme, halailimme ja itkimme ilosta! Artemin oli vaikea uskoa asiaa todeksi.
Ja konsertti oli uskomattoman hieno!
Kerroimme ovimiehen ystävällisyydestä moneen otteeseen kaikille ystäville ja läheisille.
Ja nyt haluan sanoa, että sinun maanmiehesi tekevät joka päivä pieniä ihmeitä. Auttavat meitä ukrainalaisia päivittäisissä tarpeissa, toiveissa ja unelmissa. Suomi on hyvä maa.

Hello! My name is Nataliia, I am Ukrainian. I live in Sauvo for 10 months. You could see an interview with me earlier on the pages of this newspaper. But I’m writing my own article for the first time, so I’m a little worried.
Sometimes I will write something here. And I would like to write about the life of Ukrainians in Finland, about the kind people we meet on our way. And also about my feelings and emotions.
The local people are extremely kind and responsive to us. I always say that even when you don’t expect anything more, someone does more! And it amazes me every time!
So today I want to tell a story about how one man’s big dream came true thanks to such kindness.
It was one of the summer days, I was resting after working on the farm, when our neighbor and friend Artem entered the room. His eyes were shining, and his mood was high. He told me that his favorite musician from Australia will be performing in Helsinki soon.
Artem told me that he and his girlfriend were going to go to a concert. He also invited me and our friend, Anastasia, to go with them. We agreed and started planning the trip.
However, due to problems with online banking, we could not buy tickets online, so we decided to buy them right before the concert in the club.
On the day of the concert, we (me, Anastasia, Artem and his girlfriend Ksenia) arrived in Helsinki and decided to go straight to the club to buy tickets in advance. Artem was incredibly happy, because his dream could soon to come true.
But the guard at the entrance said that the tickets are sold out online, we can’t buy any more.
We were extremely upset. Artem almost cried. His dream was so close…
There were 4 hours left before the concert. We decided to come again in the evening before the concert and see if someone would refuse tickets and we could buy them.
Arriving in the evening, we again approached the guard at the entrance. But there were no tickets still. Then we said to the guard that we are ready to pay even more for the entrance, and we are from Ukraine, and our friend dreamed of going to this artist’s concert for 6 years. The guard asked to show the passports, and then said: “For Ukrainians, entry is free!”
We jumped, hugged and cried from happiness! Artem could not believe that it was real. The concert turned out to be incredible! And we all told all our friends and loved ones many times about the kindness of that guard.
And today I am glad to tell you. After all, every day your compatriots create small miracles, help with the necessary or fulfill the wishes and dreams of Ukrainians. The Finns are an exceptionally good nation. Thank you everyone for all you do!
