“Hyvät ihmiset ovat enemmistönä.” Tästä sanonnasta on tullut mottoni. Kuten myös siitä, että mahdoton voi muuttua mahdolliseksi. Kuulin sanonnan hyvistä ihmisistä entiseltä kollegaltani. Kauniilta neidolta, jonka luona sain asua ilmaiseksi Puolassa joitakin päiviä, kun olin sotaa paossa enkä tiennyt mitä seuraavaksi tekisin.
Maaliskuun 11. päivänä minulle tuli täyteen tasan vuosi täällä Suomessa ja Sauvossa. Tämä ajanjakso on muuttanut elämäni täysin. Kuluneet 12 kuukautta ovat myös osoittaneet jokaiselle ukrainalaiselle, miten vahvoja voimme olla. Samalla tämä vuosi osoittanut, kuinka paljon valoa ja ystävällisyyttä sauvolaisissa on.
Olen ollut nyt vuoden erossa perheestäni ja kodistani – kaikesta mihin olen tottunut ja mitä rakastan. Vuosi sitten pakkasin koko elämäni yhteen laukkuun ja lähdin kohti tuntematonta. Vuosi on kuitenkin antanut todella paljon, vaikka kyseessä oli lähtö omalta mukavuusalueelta täysin uuteen ympäristöön.
Ymmärrän nyt, minkä arvoinen olen ja mihin kykenen. Asetin päämääräksi lähestyä kykyjeni rajoja ja uskon, että niin on tapahtunutkin.
Koen, että täällä Sauvossa elinpiiri ja asiat ympärilläni ovat muodostuneet suurimmaksi voimavarakseni. Hienoja, ystävällisiä ja kiinnostavia ihmisiä. Saapumisemme ensimmäisestä päivästä lähtien olen saanut kokea lämpöä ja huolenpitoa. Sauvolaisilta, työtovereilta, työnantajilta. Kaikilta, jotka huomioivat ja välittävät.
Monet ukrainalaiset ovat löytäneet täältä uuden perhepiirin. Olen yksi heistä.
Muistan päivän, tai pikemminkin yön, jolloin saavuimme Sauvoon. Vuorokausi oli jo vaihtunut. Saavuimme bussilla Puolasta. Olimme väsyneitä, hämmentyneitä, peloissammekin. Uskoimme saavamme ainakin yösijan. Mutta jo ensimmäisenä vuorokautena saimme paljon enemmän.
Ruokaa, hygieniavälineitä, puhtaita pyyhkeitä ja vuodevaatteita oli odottamassa majapaikassamme. Asunnon omistajat olivat odottaneet meitä ja valvoivat kanssamme aamuyöllä kolmeen saakka. He myös varmistivat, että jokainen löysi mukavan paikan ja sai kaiken tarvitsemansa. He jopa pahoittelivat kylmää lattiaa ja jakoivat villasukkia. Se oli todella mukavaa ja ystävällistä.
Nämä muistot nostattavat kyyneleitä ja kulkevat kanssani aina.
Ja seuraavana päivänä ihmeet alkoivat. Ihmeet, joille ei näy loppua. Meitä autettiin kaikessa: lääkärikäynneissä, työllistymisessä, vapaa-ajanvietossa ja niin edelleen – jopa laivamatka järjestettiin. Huomiota, huolenpitoa, hienoja hetkiä. Apunne ja tukenne on ollut sekä koskettavaa että konkreettista.
Yhteisöni ja lähiympäristöni on suurin aarteeni. Kiitos kaikille. Juuri sellaisina kuin olette.

Hello everyone again! First of all, I want to thank you for your feedback and kind words regarding my previous article. You motivate and inspire me!
“There are more good people” – a phrase that became my motto and thanks to which the impossible became possible. This phrase was told to me by a beautiful girl, my ex colleague. She allowed me to live with her for free in Poland for a few days when I was running away from the war and didn’t know what to do next.
On March 11, exactly one year has passed since I have been here in Finland, in Sauvo. 1 year that completely changed my life. 1 year that showed every Ukrainian how strong we can be. 1 year that showed every resident in Sauvo how much light and kindness you have inside.
1 year of separation from my family, from home, from everything that I am used to and that I love. A year ago, I packed my whole life in one bag and set off into the unknown. However, this year gave me so much! This is an exit from the comfort zone into a completely new environment. I understood what I am worth, what I am capable of. My main focus during this time has been to make the most of it. And it brought results.
I consider my environment to be my greatest asset this year. Surrounded by beautiful, kind, interesting people. From the first day of our arrival, I feel so much warmth and care from you, the residents of Sauvo, my colleagues, employers, all caring people who show us attention.
Many Ukrainians have found a new family here, and I am one of them.
I remember the day or it is correct to say the night, when we arrived in Sauvo. It was one o’clock after midnight. When we came here by bus (free bus from Poland), we were tired, scared, confused. All we were counting on was a place to sleep. However, already on the first evening we received much more!
Food, personal hygiene items, new towels and bed linen were already waiting for us in the house. The owners of the house were waiting for us and thay were with us until 3 o’clock in the morning, until they made sure that everyone had found a comfortable place and had everything they needed. They also apologized for the cold floor and gave woolen socks to everyone. It was so nice!
Memories that bring tears to my eyes and will stay with me forever.
And the next day, miracles began. Miracles that do not end until now. People helped us in everything: from a visit to the doctor, employment, boat trips, organization of grandiose holidays for Ukrainians and much, much more! So much care, attention, beautiful moments! Your help and support is very tangible.
I feel that My environment is the greatest treasure. Thank you, everyone, just for being you. With love!
